Yesterday, before going to meet friends at the Wies'n, we had received a response to one of our many emails on Tuesday. This wasn't the place that was our first choice, either, but we wanted out so bad...
But OMG this apartment was great! Even before you get to the apartment you can see the difference. The entrance is clean and bright and not cluttered with bikes. The stairs are a pink marble, not creaky, rickety wooden steps. It's on the 3rd floor, and when you walk through the door...wow. Just wow.
It's bright and clean and tastefully decorated. Guillermo's art consists of random puzzles that have been gesso'd and mounted, interspersed with pictures of his son and random metallic etchings of clowns. It has a nice kitchen with balcony (which is being left stocked, including alcohol!), leather couches and a big tv in the living room. I haven't watched tv since I left home, as the tv room is also where Guillermo sleeps, and spends all his evenings. The bedroom has a full bed, and it doesn't creak like it's in pain. Orchids grow on the windowsills. It's idyllic!
And the guy who's subletting it to us....he is so awesome. His name is Ola, and he's Swedish. And hot, but that is irrelevant. He lost his job recently, and has decided to go climb mountains in South America for the next 3 1/2 months. He's pretty much leaving everything behind, in our care, and is trusting us with it all. We even came up short on our deposit (thanks to Guillermo's thievery) and he was totally cool about it, just asked us to give it to his friend when we had the rest. We are so very thankful for him!!
So everything is now packed, and we have a couple trips ahead of us dragging all this shit around. No more than 2 trips, hopefully.
But first...Guillermo. We need our cautions (deposits) back. He had Claudia bitch us out earlier about not taking out the trash, and not cleaning the tablecloth. Since we are the only ones that use the kitchen and make trash. *cough-bullshit-cough* so we're doing that, being all clean, so we can get our cautions back. Poor Jen has to do all the arguing, but she's pissed so somewhat looking forward to it. But not at the same time....it could get ugly. I stole my little GTFO sheet he wrote up for me on the desk, so last resort I bring that up and rat out Claudia telling me about it if it goes bad.
Anyways...hopefully some pictures to follow soon of the new place!!
